Recently, Catherine Bell of BluEra spoke to school children about awakening and living your passion. She asked MediaPop to develop a short video about why we love what we do to show the kids at Elbow Park School. Perhaps we never really consciously think about our passion, but creating the video awoke our passion from the depths. Thanks goes to Catherine for the inspiration and as I say in the video, I hope you follow your passion too.

We’re ecstatic to say the web video created for BluPlanet was a smashing success! Not only was the ad featured in an article in Metro Calgary, but it garnered the attention of CBC News across Canada. You can watch the coverage here (The Fun Starts at the 4:30 mark):

http://www.cbc.ca/video/#/News/Canada/Calgary/1305515274/ID=2073839230

BluPlanet wanted to throw a shot across the bow as it were, and we came up with a video that would do just that.

The video has been a tremendous boon to BluPlanet, who have seen their client base rise significantly. It’s a testament to the benefit of video, and how the online world is shaping our traditional TV world as well. It’s creating a dialogue, creating buzz and allowing companies that would normally not attain this kind of media attention, garner that coveted media attention.

It grows your business

Cheers,

It’s my pleasure, on behalf of VP Eric Giesbrecht and Staff Writer Erika Livingstone, we announce the official launch of Calgary’s newest video production company MediaPop.

Building off the numerous creative experiences we’ve had in each of our careers, we launch MediaPop with the goal to not only be one of Calgary’s best video production companies, but the most entertaining, creative and bold.

First let’s introduce you to our people:

Ryan Northcott

Ryan is a Canadian actor/producer/director appearing in Mystery, Alaska, Ripper, The Beach Boys: An American Family and other movies, TV and commercials. A Calgary native, he spent a considerable amount of time in Los Angeles immersing himself in the production business. In 2007, he was one of the founders of FUDDYTV, a strictly web comedy show which produced some incredible results. It began with Chuck Storm (commercials, airings, etc.), led to the Car Dance Party series (Toyota) and working with world’s 2nd largest ad agency Cramer-Krasselt on 10 original commercials for TrueCredit. While FUDDYTV still lives on, the focus is MediaPop and creating the best possible production company in Calgary, Canada and beyond.

We welcome the multi-disciplinary Eric Giesbrecht to MediaPop. Eric has spent time teaching English in Japan, running a children’s theatre, constructing Disney Sea, owning an art gallery, and shooting everything from charity videos to zombie films. Eric studied at Mount Royal University focusing on Technical Theatre and Film.

Erika Livingstone

We are very fortunate to have the writing talents of MediaPop’s first dedicated staff writer, Erika Livingstone. Erika is finishing the final year of her English Degree at the University of Calgary, and has a solid background in Dramatic Literature. As well as her MediaPop duties, Erika is a Staff Writer at Gothic Beauty magazine.
