East Village's EV Junction
Where shipping containers meet shopping containers

The EV Junction in East Village, Calgary is a pop-up retail installation located on the corner of 8th Ave. and 4th St. S.E., replacing the old gas station across from the St. Louis Hotel. 12 shipping containers with maverick retailers like Lululemon and The Apple Lady sell their wares Thursday through Sunday in Calgary’s coolest neighbourhood.

As a resident of East Village we feel the energy and renewal of this neighbourhood. The people, the infrastructure, the retailers that are popping up are bringing new vibrancy and attitude to downtown’s best neighbourhood.

The EV Junction is an innovative and social pop-up retail space that is unique to Calgary. Replacing the old, dilapidated gas station across from the St. Louis Hotel, the bright colours and design add colour to this place.

When we started filming we knew we needed to feature the colours, the movement, the energy, and how good it feels when you’re there. From the high-octane kickboxing to the sweet Apple Lady selling fresh fruit and vegetables it’s a place where you can hang out and feel like you’re a part of the neighbourhood.

Thankfully, our day was absolutely gorgeous, the sun was bright, the people came to be a part of it, and the music was awesome.

Director’s Quote

“You really have to sit down, grab a bite to eat, maybe enjoy a beverage, and just take in the surroundings to understand the allure of the EV Junction…you can even rent a bike, buy some groceries, and hunker down with a fidget spinner if you’re really wild…”
