Brief
Ameera is a short thriller akin to Black Mirror. Andrea is getting used to her new powerful in-home virtual assistant “ameera”, backed by the ameera suite of software and devices. After a software update beefs up ameera’s predictability and function, her pervasive power grows too strong for Andrea, who struggles with the effects of isolation and mental illness.
At what lengths do we allow technology to know everything about us? And what does that pervasive knowledge do our mental health? Those are the central questions in “Ameera”. Written and filmed in a week, the self-contained psychological thriller delves deep into the relationship between technology and mental health, inspired by the reading of articles on an almost daily basis about privacy issues with the tech we all know and love.
